Dear Eagles,
As we approach a night that often brings excitement and celebration, I want to take a moment to reach out to our school community with an important message about safety and responsibility.
Over the past two years, we’ve seen large gatherings involving young people that have raised concerns across our community. In response, local agencies—including the RCMP, Squamish Fire Rescue, Conservation Officers, the District of Squamish, and School District 48—have been working together to ensure the safety and well-being of our youth.
We are asking for your support in helping our students make safe choices tonight. In particular, please remind your children that:
- Fireworks are prohibited in Squamish, and the use of explosives is illegal.
- Fines for the possession and discharge of fireworks in Squamish will be enforced
- School district property is not a gathering place for tonight’s activities.
No matter where our students are in the community, they are always seen as students of Don Ross Middle School. We are proud of them, and we want them to be safe.
Please take a moment to speak with your child about the importance of making responsible decisions. Your partnership makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Graham
